' Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and

citizenship to twenty million criminal

invaders called illegal and they vote,

then we can say goodbye to the USA

in fewer than five years.

Apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

Thanks for reading. The American people desperately need relief and tangible solutions, and sooner rather than later, yet our elected officials in Washington are doing nothing. It's even been suggested that the Democrat majority are using the extraordinarily high oil prices as a sort of choke hold, to force Americans into conserving energy and driving more fuel efficient vehicles.

In response to a push by many Americans to allow for drilling and exploration in ANWR, an oil rich region in Alaska, and along America's continental shelf, many prominent Democrats, like presidential candidate Barack Obama vehemently opposed the idea, saying that the effects of any domestic drilling and oil production would not be felt for at least ten years and that even then it would only lower prices at the pump by a few cents. It seems that Senator Obama, and many other Democrats who share his point of view, are out of touch with the American people, and frankly, lack a basic understanding of Economics 101 and it's most primal law, supply and demand. Any Economist, or Expert on such matters, knows that if Congress announced tomorrow, that they voted to allow domestic drilling, the price of oil would immediately begin to fall, as speculators and OPEC react to the news. Furthermore, domestic drilling sites in ANWR, along our continental shelf, and elsewhere could be producing as much as a million barrels per day within two years, and three million barrels per day within five years, lowering oil prices by as much as fifty percent. The Democrats may lack a basic understanding of supply and demand, however, the American people do not, in a recent poll, 74% of Americans supported drilling along our continental shelf, and 58% supported drilling in ANWR.

Rather than allow for increased drilling and production in the U.S., the Democrats are opting to push for alternative energy sources and so called "green technologies", as a means of reducing our dependence on oil and other fossil fuels tomorrow, which is fine, and most Americans also support. But what about today, the burning question on everyone's mind is why can't we do both, give Americans relief today by lowering prices any way we can, and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels tomorrow with new technologies and alternative energy sources. As a matter of fact America has already made great strides in "Green Technology" and alternative energy development, perhaps more so than anywhere else in the world, the Democrats would have you believe that nothing is being done. There is no magic wand, the conversion to a world fueled by fossil fuels to a world fueled by alternative clean energy sources takes time, and we are already well on our way to that goal. American corporations are responsible for some of the most promising innovations to date, and are pushing the envelope daily, the spirit of capitalism will deliver these technologies quicker than any government ever will.

Democrats often say that they want to end our dependence on oil, which is deceiving, as we could not end our dependence on oil completely unless the world reverted to life as it where in the stone age. That's right, if we could completely do away with the combustion engine, and all vehicles ran on alternative energy and we required no gasoline or diesel ever again, and all of our electricity was provided by non-fossil fuel sources, we would still need oil. We depend on oil in almost every aspect of our lives, like the plastic we depend on everyday, from the packaging of food and other products, to electronics like computers and televisions, to building materials, even the alternative energy automobiles would be composed of over fifty percent plastic including the rubber tires. Regardless of the Democrats desires or plans for America's long term energy policy, the truth is that we will be depending on oil for a myriad of uses, for a very long time to come, and although we must work very hard to find alternatives to all of our uses for oil, as it is a finite resource, it is unrealistic to think that it will happen any time soon. Therefor we must unite and do everything we can to relieve the pain that millions of Americans are feeling due to the crisis at hand, while at the same time moving towards and striving for oil independence in a way that does not destroy innocent people's lives.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-04T17:54:57Z</dcterms:modified>

I'll Be Back, I Promise

Hello everyone, sorry I've been silent for so long, but my hands have really been full lately, as I juggle work, school, and life in general. I recently decided to return to college in pursuit of my BA in Journalism, I am taking summer classes now which takes all my spare time, and that will only worsen this fall as I take on a full load of classes.

I really miss posting and keeping in touch with my awesome MSN Spaces friends, and am currently tweaking my schedule in hopes of creating a sliver of time in which I might be able to post and read your posts, on a regular basis. This being a holiday (4th of July), I have some extra time and am working on an interesting post which I hope to have up by tomorrow, and am eagerly awaiting the chance to catch up on everyone's spaces.

Well, I must be off to my Public Speaking class now, I have a speech tonight, I just wanted to let all my friends know what was up with me, and let you know that I'll be back, and I truly miss reading all of your insightful, interesting, and wonderful posts.

Thank you,
Edward
theconservativeinformer

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-02T22:27:26Z</dcterms:modified>

POLITICAL BIAS INTHE MEDIA

There exists, within the media, a strict code of ethics which is designed to preserve journalistic integrity, objectivity and impartiality are two of the most primal tenets of that code. The only problem is that the people who work in media are human and it's almost impossible to completely ignore human nature. While it's most Journalists aim to be objective and impartial, they can't help but to sometimes let their bias bleed through into their work. This, however, would not be an issue if there were equal numbers of conservatives to liberals.

There have been numerous polls and surveys conducted detailing the political make-up of the media, and the results seem to always indicate that liberals and people who vote Democrat out number conservatives and people who vote Republican, sometimes as much as twelve to one. Rarely would a Journalist knowingly compromise their journalistic integrity, but with such huge percentages of liberals and Democrats those subtle instances of bias may give an overall impression of media bias.

So far, in the media's 2008 Presidential election coverage, there have been many claims of media bias. Perhaps most notable is Democratic presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton's charge that NBC is in the tank for Barack Obama, Clinton's rival for the Democratic nomination. Clinton blasted MSNBC, which is part of NBC, for declaring Obama the nominee and suggesting she drop out of the race. The only problem with Clinton's claims of bias is that the comments she is referring to were made during opinion based programing or by paid contributors who's expressed purpose is to give their opinion. That being said, there is a legitimate gripe concerning the usage of openly liberal and Democratic supporter, Keith Olbermann in MSNBC's Presidential debate and in their election night coverage.

One of the most egregious examples of political bias in the media is of course the now famous Rather Gate, in which Dan Rather went on the air with a negative story about George W. Bush, who was running for re-election in the 2004 Presidential campaign. It was later found that the story was false and if Rather had done some basic fact checking he would have known that. The issue was such an embarrassment for CBS, that they forced Rather to resign after being with the network for 44 years, which just goes to show the seriousness of real bias.

While there are occasional instances of blatant media bias, most of the allegations are probably only perceived due to the hyper-partisan nature of American society today. However, The fact that liberals and Democrats are such a huge majority within the media is very real. The question then becomes why is there such a disproportionate ratio of liberals to conservatives in the media, why does it not reflect the ratio in society?

We may never know the answer to that question, but if there is blame to be attached, it should be placed at the feet of the top executives, because they are the ones who make the major decisions such as hiring practices. If the top media executives were to strive for more ideological equality in the newsroom, then at the very least the perception of bias would largely disappear. Although, in theory, as long as every journalist continues to honor the sanctity of their journalistic integrity and the code of journalistic ethics, then ideology is irrelevant.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-05-25T01:04:32Z</dcterms:modified>

Great site

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-05-23T05:29:57Z</dcterms:modified>

WHO'S HAPPIER CONSERVATIVES OR LIBERALS?

Which political group is happiest, liberals or conservatives? Conservatives of course, at least according to a survey conducted by Jamie Napier and John Jost of New York University. " Conservatives reported greater satisfaction and well being than did liberals." claimed the survey.

The researchers also found that liberals tend to be unhappy because of social and economic inequalities which conservatives are able to rationalize away.

There have been other studies as well that site conservatives as being happier, in 2006 a Pew Research center survey uncovered similar results. "47% of conservative Republicans in the U.S. described themselves as very happy compared to just 28% of liberal Democrats." the survey found.

The truth is, it's hard to put your personal ideology aside and answer the question objectively. I bet if nine people answered the question and three of them were conservative and five liberal, the results would be five to three in favor of liberals.

There are many other factors that tend to indicate that conservatives are happier as well. Conservatives tend to be optimistic while liberals tend to be pessimistic, a conservative will almost always see the glass as half full and the liberal will say that it is half empty. Go ahead and ask your friends how they view the glass, I think you will be astonished at the results.

Another reason liberals are less happy is the fact that they generally rely on emotion when formulating their opinions, therefor they are more likely to act on emotion when an injustice or inequality is perceived, whereas a conservative tends to rely more on facts which may justify the inequality in their mind.

If you are still unconvinced I recommend you just sit back and, with an open mind, observe people whom you know to be either conservative or liberal, whether on television or in person, and I think you will see that conservatives are indeed happier than their liberal counterparts.

However, just because there may be more happy conservatives, does not mean that all liberals are unhappy, or that all conservatives are happy, I know plenty of miserable conservatives and even more jolly ole liberals. Actually the surveys I cited earlier only reveal a slight lead by conservatives, as a matter of fact both conservatives and liberals have a larger percentage of unhappy people than happy ones, 53% of conservatives are something other than happy and 72% of liberals are likewise.

The real story here is why are so many people unhappy? Life is too short and America too awesome for there to be so many unhappy people, cheer up, tell a joke, look at all the beauty that surrounds us, reach out and help someone in need, and you will find your happiness.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-05-19T06:21:43Z</dcterms:modified>

Illegal Immigration; The Week in Review

Illegal immigration has quickly become a hot button issue among Americans these days. It used to be only the border states that were affected by illegal immigration, but today the ill effects of illegal immigration have spread like a wildfire from California to Maine. With illegal immigration being so widespread it is difficult for many Americans to keep up with all that is happening, so I have combed over countless news sources and headlines in an attempt to provide a comprehensive review of the week concerning illegal immigration.

I.C.E. and the federal government have stepped up raids on American businesses hiring illegal aliens since 2006, some of the latest roundups include a raid in the Houston area in which government agents from the local I.C.E. office, in an operation ranging four days, arrested some 89 "fugitive aliens". Of those arrested 28 had previous criminal convictions and 77 had been issued orders of removal.

There are two separate incidents to report from out of Arkansas. First, in a raid that took place near Little Rock National Airport, agents arrested 24 illegal aliens on a construction site who were working for a company called Naylor Concrete out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. According to the Arkansas Secretary of State Naylor Concrete had their license revoked in 2006 and 2007 for undisclosed reasons, the company is under investigation to see if they knowingly hired any of the workers arrested in the raid but as of now no charges have been filled. In an unrelated incident on Wednesday May 7 2008 in Benton county Arkansas, a Benton county sheriff's deputy pulled over a van on Interstate 540. A search of the van revealed 12 illegal aliens in the back, all 12 of the illegal aliens were arrested and will be deported, and the driver, a 19 year old man, will be charged with human trafficking.

One of the most horrific problems resulting from illegal immigration is when someone loses their life at the hands of an illegal alien. this next story, which I read in the Akron Beacon Journal, is sure to anger anyone with an ounce of feelings. Because of the way the laws are written in Ohio an illegal alien, while driving on an Ohio Highway, killed another driver in an auto accident but because the illegal alien never had a drivers license he cannot be charged with a felony. As a result the illegal alien will likely only get six months for killing the other driver who was headed home to his family after work. The law in Ohio says that if your license has not been suspended you cannot be charged with a felony and of course being an illegal alien the driver who caused the accident never had an Ohio drivers license. To add insult to injury, the illegal alien had been charged with a DUI after another wreck in 2006 and never showed up for his deportation hearing and was still living at the same residence when this latest incident occurred. What's worse, two other fatal accidents, both caused by illegal aliens, have happened since the first incident, in the same general area and they too have been charged with only a misdemeanor.

On a more positive note, in Virginia, a U.S. district judge sentenced the owner of a business, who knowingly hired illegal aliens, to 90 days in prison and imposed severe fines. Also in Virginia, the F.B.I. arrested a Guatemalan man who had in his possession hundreds of license plates and auto titles from Mississippi and Tennessee. The man was selling the titles and plates to illegal aliens who could not prove their residency, which the state of Virginia requires.

In other news, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a measure that will require the federal government to repay states for their costs associated with housing and prosecuting illegal aliens charged with a crime. The measure actually only restores the existing State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) to it's original form which was altered in 2006 so that the federal government would only reimburse states in the event of a conviction.

Last but not least, it seems the A.L.C.U. has teamed up with the Mexican government to form The Guardian Program which will council and provide legal defense to illegal aliens as well as go after immigration agents who abuse illegal aliens and their rights.

In an update concerning the presidential candidates, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, in an interview with Bill O'Riely, said that she would continue to allow sanctuary cities to exist unchallenged. And Republican candidate John McCain has been courting the Hispanic vote of which he feels he needs to get at least 40% to win. McCain has said he will build the fence and improve border security but will provide amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens already here, although he did say that he would deport any illegal aliens with a criminal record.

That wraps up another week in review on the illegal immigration front. Remember stay active in the fight against illegal immigration, our voices are being heard. It may seem as though the federal government is doing very little to enforce the immigration laws, but since American citizens started demanding action illegal alien removals have risen from 178,657 in 2005 to 282,548 in 2007 and are on track to be much higher in 2008. Much much more still needs to be done but we are making a difference, keep up the hard fight.

I don't know wether Rev. Jeremiah Wright is completely self absorbed or if he is completely self absorbed and purposely trying to sabotage Sen. Obama's campaign. What I do know, however, is that Rev. Wright's recent media blitz is doing harm to Obama's campaign and it's happening while Obama is trying to win the hearts and votes of so called Reagan Democrats. Rev. Wrights reemergence is a significant story on it's own, but it is the media's coverage of this story that I'd like to focus on. Overall I think most of the coverage was fair and rightfully thorough, as Obama himself gave credence to the issue's legitimacy when he said "I have said before and I repeat again that... some of the comments that Rev. Wright has made offend me and I understand why they have offended the American people". That being said, there was some coverage that left me scratching my head in sheer wonderment. Some people in the media tried to spin the whole thing as no big deal, suggesting it may even be a positive for Obama, as Chuck Todd (NBC News Political Director) while appearing on MSNBC seemed to do when he opined how Obama might even turn this into a silver lining by distancing himself from Rev. Wright again. Sorry Mr. Todd nice try but the only one who will turn this into a silver lining will be Sen. McCain, Obama can do some damage control by further distancing himself from Rev. Wright but there is no silver lining. Mr Todd went on to say "He's (Obama) trying to get rid of this politics of distraction, that he's trying to turn the page, he doesn't want to sort of get killed by shinny metal objects that seem to distract the media, but rather focus on key issues, focus on change". Yes folks there it is again, that empty meaningless word change that's been thrown around more times than Keith Olberman has named Bill O'Riely "World's worst person". Maybe someone should let Mr. Todd know that this is a huge issue to Americans, perhaps it is he who is awe struck by the pretty shinny objects. At the National Press Club event Rev. Wright remarked " he (Obama) didn't distance himself, he had to distance himself, because he's a politician, that's what politicians do" it's clear that Rev. Wright was insinuating that Obama was simply telling Americans what they wanted to hear, implying that Obama shares his hateful views. Yet CNN anchor Soledad O;Brien tried to spin the remarks saying " he is a Pastor, Barack Obama is a politician, meaning that they, you know, they don't work together.". Later during the same broadcast, which was not commentary or editorial but rather CNN's "Newsroom" at 10:00 am, in a discussion between anchor Tony Harris and contributors Roland Martin and David Gergen, Martin praised Rev. Wright's performance during the Bill Moyers interview which came across like an infomercial for Rev. Wright. Gergen went on to indicate that none of this is important and that those who show the Wright footage over and over do so because they oppose him and wish to hurt the campaign, then both Gergen and Martin tried to paint Rev. Wright as "a good man" and asked why people don't focus on the good he's done. I'll tell you why, because this story is not about Rev. Wright's good deeds, it's about his hate filled incendiary remarks which insulted and injured many many Americans, would Gergen and Martin argue that we should focus on the good deeds of Hitler. Furthermore when those who show the clips of Rev. Wrights vile remarks over and over, they do so not because they Oppose Obama, but because it's news, and it's important, and it speaks volumes about Obama's character and or his judgement, which determines how he will govern and where he really stands on the issues, not to mention the issue of trust. It seems to me a few people in the media are still blinded by Obama mania. Let this be a warning to Viewers, be ware just because they call it news does not mean it's true.

The pope's visit began Wednesday April 16 as he arrived at St. Andrews Air Force Base where he was greeted on the tarmac by the president. On Thursday, in a packed Nationals Stadium, the pope presided over mass with more than 45,000 people present, the service was both beautiful and inspirational as he delivered his message of hope and strength. Healing was also a theme in his message, as he spoke about the sex abuse scandal, which he mentioned several times throughout his visit, he offered a heartfelt apology, and said the church is even considering changing the Cannon law which regulates the handling of abuse allegations, and he later met with several of the abuse victims, the pope's openness about the scandal will go a long way towards healing the wounds of both the church and the victims. Friday the pope arrived in New York where he addressed the General Assembly of the United Nations, and met with ecumenical leaders at Saint Joseph Church in Manhattan. On Saturday the pope gave mass to priests, deacons, and members of religious orders at Saint Patrick's Cathedral. Later in the Day the pope met with children with disabilities at Saint Joseph Seminary. On Sunday Pope Benedict, in perhaps the most emotional part of his visit, went to Ground Zero, the site of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, where he blessed the site with holy water and lit a candle to represent sacrifice and resurrection, then he prayed for the victims and their families and for an end to hate and violence "God of peace... turn to your way of love those whose hearts and minds are consumed with hatred". During the ceremony the pope met with twenty four people who were survivors and family members of the victims, as well as the mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, The governor of New York, David Patterson, the governor of New Jersey, Jon Corzine, and many other prominent figures. Pope Benedict departed for Vatican City soon after mass at Yankee Stadium, bringing an end to a historical and one of the most successful visits by a pope, as this visit reunited those departed by past scandal and helped heal old wounds, and united Christians of all faiths with a universal message of hope, strength, peace, and love, and highlighted the millions of young people across America who are as passionate as ever about God.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-25T23:04:11Z</dcterms:modified>

Senator Obama's elitist comments

As I have said many, many times, the Democrats are out of touch with the average American, and Senator Obama proved this fact last week when, at a closed door fundraiser in San Francisco, he said "You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the mid west, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothings replaced them and its not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who are'nt like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." Perhaps it's not fair to say all Democrats are elitists, just the more liberal ones are, as liberal America seems to look down their noses at the rest of us and tend to believe anyone they disagree with is unintelligent, a dumb hick, or a redneck. Liberals just can't understand that most Americans who embrace religion came to do so after much intelligent thought, for some it's far-fetched to believe that all the marvels of the Universe and the amazing almost magical existence of life just happened spontaneously. Liberals cant understand that our positions on the 2nd amendment and illegal

immigration evolved only after much thought, examination of the facts, and applying common sense and reality. It is liberals who arrive at their conclusions based solely on emotion and completely devoid of the facts, which explains why they get so frustrated when they lose the debate, and resort to name calling and censorship, ever heard of the Fairness Doctrine? You may say that I am equally out of touch with liberal America for saying these things, but I am not, as I am a convert, yes that's right I was once a stark raving liberal. I know the liberal mind set, I know the dynamics of liberalism. It was only after gaining wisdom that comes only with years of pondering and years of life experience, an open mind's exposure to time and reality, that I began to see the world the way it truly is, rather than the way I wished it were, we cannot evolve into the world we desire until we understand and see the world that is.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-25T23:49:59Z</dcterms:modified>

act

Dear Fellow Conservative,

When I announced my campaign to replace John Kerry in the U.S. Senate, I got right to work traveling around Massachusetts to spread my message that it's time for John Kerry to retire. What I've found in running against Kerry is that after spending 24 years in Washington, he's already semi-retired. Kerry has become part of the status quo who will never work to change Washington. He is more concerned with his status as a national liberal and holding court with friends like Barack Obama, Ted Kennedy and the MoveOn.org folks.

I'm running to retire John Kerry. And I know I can beat him with your help. While Kerry relies on the far-left liberal establishment who will do anything to keep him in office, I'm turning to you - everyday Americans - to support my campaign to defeat Kerry. Will you join my campaign to defeat John Kerry today by making a generous contribution of $50, $100, $250, $500 or more today?

If we're going to beat Kerry in November, we'll need to raise millions. Kerry still has a war chest full of money from his failed presidential run and he'll use every penny to defend his Senate seat. Our campaign needs to raise critical funds immediately to defeat Kerry and you can help us do this today. Please follow this link to make a donation of whatever you can afford- whether it's $50 or $500 to help me retire John Kerry once and for all!

I believe that Washington has become too big, too corrupt and too partisan. I want to go to Washington to end wasteful spending, secure our borders from those who threaten our national security and reduce your tax burden by repealing the death tax and making the current tax cuts permanent. But I won't be able to do any of this without your help. Please join my campaign to retire Kerry and send a real conservative to the U.S. Senate! Thank you.

Sincerely,

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-25T04:51:39Z</dcterms:modified>

TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER

I'll be the first to admit that there is no perfect candidate for President this time around, for that matter we have not had a really good candidate in a very long time. That being said, Senator McCain is looking more and more attractive with each passing day. As a matter of fact I am beginning to think that Senator McCain may just be the first decent candidate since Ronald Reagan. For those of you blinded by a particular ideology, I don't expect you'll agree, either your a liberal and goo goo ga ga in love with the empty Senator Obama, or your a conservative and still trying to convince yourself Senator McCain is a liberal. For those open minded people out there who truly desire to elect the single best person for the job of President of the United States of America, you must admit Senator McCain is looking pretty good right now.

Perhaps the single most amazing story of this election cycle, thus far, is that the Democrats may have squandered what many considered a lock on the White House. If you had asked me six months ago, I would have bet the ranch that a Democrat would be residing at 1600 Pennsylvania avenue come next January, but today, not so much. It will truly be a dark day for the Democrats if they do not win this election, after eight years of President George W. Bush, the economic fears, the war, the deficit, and need I go on, I think you get the point. Even if the Democrats win, it will still be a dark day, if they don't win by a landslide and I assure you they will not, in fact I predict a very close race that will go down to the wire.

I appeal to those open minded people out there, ask yourself which of the candidates is most Presidential, which candidate is truly a leader, which candidate truly loves America? Is it Senator Clinton, who can't be trusted, who is so tied to scandal, who plays dirty politics, and who lies so effortlessly? Is it Senator Obama, who has no experience, no foreign diplomacy experience, who has already proposed nearly $1 billion in new spending, who's mentor is the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and close friend is Tony Rezko, who's wife said she had never been proud of America until this year, and who refuses to place his hand over his heart during the National Anthem? Or is it Senator McCain who served America in Vietnam, Who chose to remain a prisoner of war in the Hanoi Hilton after being offered freedom, as not to give the enemy propaganda to use against America and to not abandon his fellow soldiers, who vows to get rid of earmarks, who has over 25 years experience in Washington, who just returned from the Middle East where he visited our troops and visited Israel and participated in real foreign relations and diplomacy. Yes if you will open your eyes and observe with an open mind you will see there is but one leader out there, and that leader is Senator John McCain.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-26T01:16:38Z</dcterms:modified>

Article by Pat Buchanan in Human Events.

How would he pull it off? I wondered.

How would Barack explain to his press groupies why he sat silent in a pew for 20 years as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright delivered racist rants against white America for our maligning of Fidel and Gadhafi, and inventing AIDS to infect and kill black people?

How would he justify not walking out as Wright spewed his venom about "the U.S. of K.K.K. America," and howled, "God damn America!"

My hunch was right. Barack would turn the tables.

Yes, Barack agreed, Wright's statements were "controversial," and "divisive," and "racially charged," reflecting a "distorted view of America."

But we must understand the man in full and the black experience out of which the Rev. Wright came: 350 years of slavery and segregation.

Barack then listed black grievances and informed us what white America must do to close the racial divide and heal the country.

The "white community," said Barack, must start "acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination -- and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past -- are real and must be addressed. Not just with words, but with deeds ... ."

And what deeds must we perform to heal ourselves and our country?

The "white community" must invest more money in black schools and communities, enforce civil rights laws, ensure fairness in the criminal justice system and provide this generation of blacks with "ladders of opportunity" that were "unavailable" to Barack's and the Rev. Wright's generations.

What is wrong with Barack's prognosis and Barack's cure?

Only this. It is the same old con, the same old shakedown that black hustlers have been running since the Kerner Commission blamed the riots in Harlem, Watts, Newark, Detroit and a hundred other cities on, as Nixon put it, "everybody but the rioters themselves."

Was "white racism" really responsible for those black men looting auto dealerships and liquor stories, and burning down their own communities, as Otto Kerner said -- that liberal icon until the feds put him away for bribery.

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America.

Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.

This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.

Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.

Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants.

Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?

Barack talks about new "ladders of opportunity" for blacks.

Let him go to Altoona and Johnstown, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for "deserving" white kids.

Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-03-23T05:50:15Z</dcterms:modified>

Chelsea Clinton visits my hometown

I happened upon a Hillary Clinton rally of sorts on Monday, the day before the primary here in Mississippi. The rally was held in Grenada, Mississippi and in attendance was Chelsea Clinton, and one of Hillary's campaign managers, Burns Strider, whom I went to school with. I was expecting a big pep rally chock-full of rhetoric and cliche, like one of Barack Obama's, but was rather surprised to find not one cliche and little rhetoric. Chelsea covered a wide range of issues facing America and fielded many questions from members of the audience, which included many people I know personally. Chelsea spent about ten minutes speaking as to why everyone should vote for her mom (rhetoric), then turned the discussion to the crowd, as she spent the next thirty five minutes answering questions from the audience. The first question, from a local teacher, was about President Bush's "No Child Left Behind", which Chelsea assured the teacher her mom was against and would fight to repeal it. Next came a question from a local Doctor about, of course, health care, which Chelsea answered by giving a brief synopsis of her mom's proposed plan, she said the average person would pay about fiftyfive percent less for health insurance, lower income people would receive a tax refund of up to $3,500, and even lower income people would be placed on Medicaid. A woman who was in the National Guard asked how Hillary felt about the military, Chelsea answered by saying her mom was for a strong military and harshly criticized President Bush for taking away the signing bonuses of soldiers who could no longer serve because they were wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan. Perhaps the biggest issue facing Mississippi is the economy and looming recession, and when asked, Chelsea made the case for her mom, citing Obama's lack of experience and a need to renegotiate NAFTA. Another big issue for Mississippians is illegal immigration, which Chelsea said her mom would deal with, unlike President Bush, she mentioned a need for a comprehensive solution that included punishing employers who knowingly hire someone here illegally. Other issues discussed were same sex marriages which Hillary opposes, the need to fix Social Security, and Hillary's ability to reach across the aisle and work with Republicans so that America can move forward. I have been critical of Hillary Clinton in the past for dodging the hard questions, avoiding real interviews, and not giving specifics on what she will do as President, and I feel that Chelsea did a good job laying out her mom's plan and, surprisingly, went into great detail. The Clinton Campaign spent a fair amount of time in Mississippi, to spite the fact that Obama had a significant lead there. Whether or not it paid off remains to be seen as Obama went on to win the contest handily. The Obama campaign also worked very hard in Mississippi, a state that rarely matters very much in a presidential nomination, but considering how precious each and every delegate is, Mississippi was very important with it's thirtythree delegates.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-03-12T22:12:52Z</dcterms:modified>

The Kitchen Sink Worked

Super Tuesday 2 has come and gone, the votes have been tallied and for the Democrats, the picture is murkier than ever. On the Republican side we now have an official nominee, as John McCain reached the number of delegates needed to secure the nomination and Mike Huckabee graciously dropped out. The Democrats, on the other hand, are locked into a race that's sure to be a photo finish. Before the latest round of primaries and caucuses on March 4th, Senator Obama had roared past Senator Clinton with 11 straight victories to become the front runner, and pressure was mounting for Senator Clinton to drop out of the race if she did not do well on Tuesday. Senator Clinton insisted she was not out, and vowed to attack Senator Obama with "everything and the kitchen sink", well it appears to have worked as she won 3 of 4 contests on Tuesday, Ohio by a larger margin than expected, and Texas and Rhode Island which she was projected to lose, Senator Obama's only victory was Vermont.

Many pundits attribute Senator Clinton's success to her latest barrage of advertisements, in which she attacks Senator Obama's lack of experience, they feel voters are, for the first time, beginning to focus on experience and substance rather than mere charisma and charm. In addition to those reasons, I feel Senator Clinton's success in Texas is also due to a call by conservative talk radio for registered Republican and conservative Independent voters to participate in the Democratic primary and cast their vote for Senator Clinton, as Texas allows Republicans to vote in the Democratic primary/caucus and vice versa. Whatever the reason one thing is for sure, the Democratic race will likely be a slugfest that goes all the way to Denver, where the Democratic National Convention will be held in August. One last note, I feel the "Dream Ticket" is inevitable and Senator Obama and Senator Clinton are merely fighting to see who will be on top of the ticket, if the "Dream Ticket" becomes a reality the Republicans had better pray for a miracle.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-26T01:20:52Z</dcterms:modified>

WE DON'T NEED A ROCK STAR, WE NEED A LEADER

20,000 screaming fans packed into a crowded arena, women crying and fainting, people lined up begging for autographs. If this were the sixties I would be describing a Beatles concert, but this is 2008 so I must be describing a Barack Obama political rally. That's right, all of the things I just listed describe any of a number of Barack Obama rallies, it seems a firestorm of Obama mania has swept across America. What's even more astonishing, is the fact that just a matter of weeks ago the Obama campaign trailed the Clinton machine by double digits in the polls, the same Clinton machine that most described as a juggernaut and a lock to win, not only the Democratic nomination but also the general election, and now the Obama campaign not only leads in the polls, but it also leads in delegates and states won. As a spectator of this presidential election it has been fascinating to watch all of these dynamics play out, and not only on the Democratic side, but the Republican as well.

Now that Senator Obama has been established as front runner and appears as though he may be the Democratic nominee, it is time Americans take a serious look at his qualifications and where he stands on the important issues that face America. From what I have seen thus far many Americans have not done this, sure the far left is on board the Obama express, as his socialistic rhetoric appeals to their deepest desires, but most Americans are not far left, which leaves me scratching my head and wondering if these people are going to wake up from their trance. When asked why do you support Senator Obama, most of his followers give answers like, he is an eloquent speaker, he is charismatic, he is not Senator Clinton, and of course the most frequent answer, he is for change. That's it, they can't tell you how he will change things, they can't tell you where he stands on most issues, they can't give you any real answers. People seem to be stuck on his singular message of change, anyone can promise change, and almost everyone running has, but what is change? Change can be good, and change can be very bad, Hitler was elected to power on a message of change, as a matter of fact many of Hitler's speeches and rallies are eerily reminiscent to those of Obama's. I am in no way comparing Senator Obama to Hitler, that is not the point, the point is that if people would have just questioned what kind of change and looked deeper into the man, instead of blindly following the first person who came along promising change, one of the most horrible and bloodiest times in the history of the world could have been avoided.

I personally like Senator Obama, he is a very likable guy, all the things his followers say about him are true, but that's not enough for me to vote for him. I need to know where he stands on the issues, I need to know how he plans to change Washington, and I need to know what he will do for America. Well I now have the answers to the questions I asked and have made up my mind, we need a leader not a rock star. We need someone with experience to lead us in this time of war, and Senator Obama wants to bring the troops home just as we are winning the war and the trust of the Iraqi people, who are coming together for the first time ever. We need someone to fix our broken borders, and Senator Obama not only does not, he also wants to undo the fence congress promised last year. We need someone with experience to lead us through this economic downturn, and Senator Obama has no such experience. We need someone who will cut spending, and Senator Obama has already promised $874.35 billion in new spending. We need someone who will cut taxes to help stimulate the economy, and Senator Obama has already promised to raise taxes to pay for his enormous spending, and I promise you everyone's taxes will increase, not just those of the rich. We need to help corporations, and Senator Obama has promised to attack corporations and capitalism, which will hurt growth, and cause unemployment to skyrocket. Senator Obama may mean well, but we simply can not afford him as president. America is too important to blindly elect the first person to come along promising change, so for everyone's sake pay attention and make sure we elect a leader in these tough times

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-26T01:28:11Z</dcterms:modified>

THE DNC COULD BE A NIGHTMARE FOR THE DEMOCRATS

In a race that has had more lead changes than this years Daytona 500, the Democratic presidential nomination now seems to be shaping up with Senator Obama on track to win the popular vote. Senator Obama has gone from trailing Senator Clinton by double digits in national polls, to leading in delegates, states won, and has the momentum having won 10 straight caucuses or primaries. That being said, even if Senator Obama were to ride the momentum all the way through and win the popular vote out right with more delegates than Senator Clinton, he could still lose the nomination. Yes you read correctly, unlike the republican nomination process, Democrats not only have delegates but they also have superdelegates, who are present or former elected officials or party officials who are free to go with any candidate they wish. So, if Senator Obama won the popular vote, he would have more delegates than Senator Clinton, but it would be very close, so in august at the Democratic National Convention if Senator Clinton had enough superdelegates to make up the difference and give her the lead, she would be the nominee, and she now leads in superdelegates.

I believe, as do many others, that if Senator Obama were to win the vote of the people in the primaries and the caucuses, and these superdelegates were to override them and nominate Senator Clinton, the Democrats base would fracture. Due to the historic nature of this race, as Senator Obama being the first African American with a great chance to win the general election, his supporters would be so outraged that they would stay home or even vote for Senator McCain out of protest.
<img
